Almost perfect, highly recommended
Quick summary: 4.7 stars, for great features and operation, at the cost of battery life (fixable) ----- I've been waiting for years to upgrade my LG Urbane. I knew that watches with the latest Qualcomm processor were coming, and was patiently holding out for them. Finally, they are here! This watch is almost perfect. It has all the features I had been hoping for - smooth operation, great screen with auto brightness, impressive waterproofing, and NFC payments. I haven't tested the waterproofing, but the rest of those items deliver as promised. I am especially enjoying the NFC payments! The auto-brightness works well, with the sunlight booster making it easy to use in bright, direct sunlight. It has a speaker, but I usually disable sound on the watch because that's part of the reason why I wear it - discreet notifications. But it's there if and when you want it. You can even take phone call audio on the watch, though I haven't tested that yet. I'm not sure if the watch microphone works with phone calls, but if the watch and phone mic are both on then things might get a little weird for the other person. It has the usual Google Fit features, and has the ability to monitor your heartbeat all day in the background. I thought that was a neat feature, until I found out what it did to my battery life. I don't think the watch could survive for 12 hours with this enabled. Fortunately, it's not a must-have feature for me, so I disabled it and just take my heart rate specifically when I want it. That brings me to the only downside of this watch. The battery has a hard time keeping up with all the cool stuff the watch can do. Fortunately, you can do something about that. If you're like me, you can go through all the settings and disable things you don't need or care about, like background heart monitoring, tilt-to-wake and "OK Google" listening. Those things have extended the battery life to a point where it can make it through a full day with about 1/4 life left when I go to bed. If you don't want to turn off features individually, there are a few battery saver modes that should work for you. I feel like they disable a little too much for daily use, but they would be great for short trips without a charger. The watch also has quick charging, so if you're running low and you have your charger handy it won't take long to get it charged up. I heard it takes an hour to go from zero to full, but I haven't tested this. Physically, the watch is noticeably lighter than my Urbane, making it more comfortable to wear. I found the black silicone version to be the most comfortable, but I purchased the stainless steel version for the looks. Bands are 22mm and easily changeable, especially if you stay with Fossil brand. I like the three side buttons a lot! The middle one performs the standard Wear OS functions, but it has a rotating crown that scrolls the screen up and down. I didn't know this, and was happily surprised when I figured it out! The other two buttons are assignable to whichever apps you want, another great feature. I assigned Google Pay to the top and Settings to the bottom. Overall, this is the watch I was waiting for, and I bought one a few days after it was released. I highly recommend it if you're in the market, as there's nothing better out there in the Android Wear space.

The watch I've been looking for. It is finally here!!!
This smartwatch is awesome. I've only had it for 2 days now and it has by far exceeded my expectations. It is really fast. Battery life is perfect for my life style. I can't find a fault in this watch. It is perfect in my opinion. If you are debating on this watch and the ticwatch pro, definitely go with this one. The ticwatch is slow, buggy and laggy. I had it for a week and it was miserable. The fossil gen 5 watch might be extra money but it is more then worth it. The Apple watch finally has a worthy competitor. Very well done fossil! You did a fantastic job with this watch. Keep up the amazing work!!

Best watch I’ve ever owned
First, this watch is the most comfortable watch I’ve ever put on. The materials are sleek and look amazing. The face is incredibly scratch resistant and the brightness is perfect. It was also a really simple setup from the moment I turned it on. It synced with my phone immediately and all of the features are incredibly responsive. I use it daily now and wouldn’t have it any other way. I would give it 10/10

A fashionable upgrade from Apple Watch!
I’ve been wearing an Apple Watch nonstop for a couple years now but always felt like I had to sacrifice a bit of fashion to do so. Had heard of this beautiful new Fossil and took the leap to give it a try. Had it for a few days now and admittedly still learning all the functions - but I love it! Very sleek & fashionable look, simple set up, easy-to-understand functions that more than match my Apple Watch, clear display, great watch faces. I read other reviews but have not found the battery life to be any different than Apple nor could I replicate any issues with buttons being pushed by my wrist. In short - it’s a great upgrade from Apple. I’m really happy with it!

Exactly what I was looking for!
After years of various friends and family members wearing smart watches and raving about them, I decided to give it a shot. I did a lot of research on various watch brands before selecting one. I have a Google Pixel 3 and was hoping to find a nice Wear OS watch. I was looking for more of a cell phone accessory rather than fitness watch, with more important features to me including ability to take/make calls on the watch, send/receive texts, Google assistant, agenda, and Google pay. This watch has all of that as well as water resistance, heart rate monitoring, step tracking, weather, GPS, alarms, and more. I have to charge my watch every night or else it will die on me at work, but with customizable battery modes, the battery can really vary. I normally have always on display, NFC on, motions off, heart rate monitoring on, "Ok Google" detection off, location on, Bluetooth on, and speaker on, and it last me from about 8:30am until about 10:30pm with no issues. This watch fits really nicely on my wrist and I love how many watch faces you have to choose from! I don't have any issues with lagging and the speaker works really nicely. If I have any complaints, I can't think of them at this time. Definitely would recommend!

Good device After some Tweaks
This Smartwatch its for sure a good one, But int a friendly device for all in general. You have to take some reading and Tech information and complete some tweaks including removing all Trash chinesse software stuff and some APP that are hidden on it for let the device works just perfect. After complete remove all that stuff the battery can works for 1 1/2 day and the Watch Wear OS 2.10 works fast enough like a High end Smartphone. At the end Its a Good smartwatch but before you purchase it and leave a negative review take in consideration you need to do some research and apply some ADB uninstalls and installs before the watch change to a perfect usage stage.

No regrets!
Watch is very aesthetic, works perfectly with my pixel 3a, and the battery lasts me all day (35% right now after 13 hours!). The battery died kinda fast at first but after disabling GPS and Google assistant and then turning tilt to wake on, as opposed to always on, the battery lasted all day. Overall happy with it

Love It!
After trying out 3 other smartwatches I was finally guided by my daughter's boyfriend to get a Fossil Gen 5. Was very new on the market and I'm sure I paid more then what it will probably be in a few months. But I was frustrated with all the others. They either kept disconnecting from Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or lagged horribly. Happy to say the Fossil Gen 5 is everything I wanted and functions great. The battery was draining by end of day but I went into Wear OS app and turned off all notifications I didn't need and worked well. It gave me enough time on battery that when I'm out all day I'm not worried it's going to go down to nothing. I got it when it just went on the market and they were not offering the female version which looks a little more elegant. I wish I could have gotten that but have changed the watch band to dress it up a little. I have a small wrist but still looks fine on a smaller wrist in my opinion. Bottom line is after 3 other trys, I finally found the one I love but at a little more heafty price. Would definitely recommend it.

Finally an Android Wear watch worth upgrading from my Samsung Gear S2
To start with I pre-ordered this watch and have been using it every day for the last several months. I've been waiting a long time for an Android Wear watch to come out with a battery life and features that would make it worth upgrading from my old Galaxy Gear S2 watch. Finally it's here. The battery on this watch lasts almost 2 days (although I charge it nightly) of regular use, always on display enabled, and no power saving settings enabled. The UI is very clean and easy to use with very few glitches and lag. I like that you have the option for 2 quick apps with the top and bottom buttons. I use the bottom for my Viper SmartStart so I can start my car from my watch. Sadly I already got a few scratches in the screen. I am used to the raised bezel of the Gear S2 but this doesn't have that extra protection. I like the looks of how flat it is more but it does remove that protection. As for finger prints, they don't show as much as many other touch screen devices and are easier to wipe off. Overall I love this watch and am very happy I got it. I plan on getting more Fossil watches because of how great this one is.

Best Smartwatch I've owned so far!!!
This is my 3rd Android/Google smartwatch, and the first one that I purchased brand new. I've been using this watch for just a little over a month now and I'm very pleased with it as a replacement for my LG Urbane2. I never had a SIM card in the LG so battery life was never an issue with the larger battery it had. I only upgraded mainly for 2 reasons, first the microphone died, and second the watch band was breaking. I purchased the LG "refurbished" for $100 and was really happy with it, but since the mic was bad and it was going to cost around$75 for a replacement band it was time to upgrade. The LG was purchased to replace the original Moto 360 I bought used because the battery was failing again. The original lasted over a year for me, the replacement fell just shy of a year. Plus it was an upgrad adding a speaker and the ability to use Google pay on the watch. I wear this watch daily and usually have at least 10% battery life left when I put it in the charger at night. Battery life in I a custom mode with everything turned on except Ok Google detection. This watch so far is just superior to both of my previous smart-watches. My only apprehension buying was to he smaller battery capacity compared to what it replaced. However this makes the watch thinner on my wrist, and for me the size is great! I love that I can use any 22mm standard band on it and change it out easily. That was a big downfall of both of it's predecessors for me requiring special bands. I am by no means a heavy user of the watch. I have been wearing a watch for about 30 years now, I never could adjust to just using my phone. This for me as an automotive technician is great because I don't have to take my gloves off or get grease all over my phone just to see who is calling or texting at that moment. For me the smart-watches are an extension of the phone, and it's great for getting notifications without having to keep the phone in my pocket.
