I was hesitant on ordering, but this modem-router works just fine for my 750 sq ft apartment. However, I am typically the only user and have only had up to 3 devices connected at once. I've got Comcast, and setup was as easy as connecting to power and hooking the coax up to the wall and following the instructions for setup. Mine didn't come with a length of coax cable, so you'll need your own. I'm not sure how'd this work in a larger split-level home, but for my use, it's perfect.

I have never written an amazon review but I just don't understand what the negative reviews are all about. I unfortunately have only one option where I live which is Optimum/Altice cable internet with their fastest service which is 400dl/40ul. Prior to this modem I was using a Netgear Nighthawk C7000 which was rated for up to 400mbps but because I was pushing the limits of the C7000, my connection would constantly drop. For my tier of service they recommend a minimum of 24x8 channels which the C7000 has but again..working with minimums led to frequent disconnects. So I got the C7800 because of the 32x8 channels and DOCSIS 3.1. After getting it provisioned with optimum my service stabilized and I am averaging 460dl/42ul hardwired and 380dl/40ul wireless. I did notice after they had provisioned the modem that the downstream, upstream and internet light would go on solid indicating service but I couldn't get internet access. I believe this was due to a walled garden set up by Netgear to get customers to register the units. After logging into routerlogin.net and setting my admin/password and some security questions, that walled garden went away and I instantly got internet access. Overall no deal breaking experiences, it just takes a little patience and know how. Just for fun I wanted to test the range of this unit and was pleasantly surprised. I went roughly 100 yards away from my house and still pulled 120mbps for dl and 20 for ul. Good Gateway all around.

so far it’s been great! i have xfinity and did the setup myself (which i’ve never done before)—it was incredibly easy and took only a few minutes! i’ve had it for about a week now and i haven’t had any issues with the wifi signal/connectivity (i use wifi on my phone, tv for streaming and laptop)

This is a super lightweight (yes, really light in weight) modem/router. I mean, I thought it would be a lot heavier than it was but when I took it out of the box I almost dropped it because it was so lightweight! It's a basic modem/router, so I hooked it up using the instruction (easy) included, but really most of it was just common sense...New service at my daughter's house, so I just looked on the bottom of the router and found the name of the WiFi and password. And of course, we all know what the username and password is when you log into your computer onto the page for the router...so I did all that, changed the name of the modem/router (yes, you can do this by yourself and it's super easy!), changed the password, all that good stuff. I'd say the time between plugging in the modem/router and being able to get on the net was like five minutes. Yes, that easy! And I'm a big fan of refurbished items, especially things like this because I am of the opinion that if you get something refurbished, it has REALLY been checked out and every little nook and cranny has been inspected and fixed! I've actually never been disappointed by a refurbished item and this little Netgear modem/router is no exception! If you need a modem/router...and you are using up to five connections (don't forget your TV, phone, laptop, tablet, smart home plugs...all these are considered connections), then I'd definitely recommend this router!

Doubled my speed works very well would recommend it to anybody love the refurbished price

Initially I looked for a new modem/router after reading some of the ordeals some people went through with refurbished devices, however I decided for the refurbished modem/router when I was able to get insurance on it and also read some encouraging feedback, given the extreme long wait time for a new device (late April). Setting the modem up and replacing the existing rental device was fairly easy. However, the online activation does not work (not an Xfinity provided device) and after some frustrating call, battling through the automated system, I got an Xfinity agent who was knowledgeable and quick and the modem/router was activated. The speed and range are amazing. Two thumbs up!

Bought this as I'm using Mediacom in Savage, MN and wanted to replace their router/modem combo to save myself 11.50 a month. Just did a test, and as you can see in the picture it's pretty insanely good. I'm paying for 100mbs/down and with their modem/router combo I got around 100 mbps with only TEN up. Netgear literally DOUBLED my up speeds. This is of course wired. Installation was literally plug and play, no problem whatsoever. It should be noted that my WIFI speed on their 2.4 two levels away (basement to second floor nearly same location) is 12.5 mbps and for some reason 23 up (faster than my ethernet connection?) So if you want dependable WIFI you should just purchase a standalone router and connect it to this, or buy boosters and plug them in where needed.

I finally stopped renting a router/modem from my cable provider and I am so happy I did! The 8 dollar per month one would not even reach from my office to my television much less upstairs. I can gladly report that the NetGear reaches every part of my house and the speed it fantastic! I'm finally getting the speed I'm paying for. I also have a bunch of devices connected (15) and it supplies them all with no issues. I also saved by getting the "refurbished" one. Looks brand new.

So far so good! I was hesitant since it is refurbished but it’s working well. The Xfinity installer said this was a good one!

The device is covered with very bright blue and white LEDs, some of which blink. You wouldn't want it in a bedroom, it's very bright. I put about 6 layers of blue painter's tape over just the LED's and put it in a well ventilated box (for cooling), so it's OK now. My two smart TV's no longer pause with spinners to buffer and everything is noticeably faster. Installation went with zero troubles. I didn't need Netgear tech support.
