I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes. The back of my heels are flat, I have a high arch/bridge, wide toes and a previously injured large toenail. All of these equal finding a comfortable shoe very difficult, especially finding one I can hike all day in. These are perfect. The foot was amazing, I’m usually between an 8 and 8.5, the 8 fit nicely due to the wide toe base. I had no problems with the shoe pressing on my toe or my bridge. I didn’t even have to break them in! Day 2 of wearing them, I hiked 11 miles and had absolutely no pain or fatigue in my feet, knees felt great too! The grip and lightness were perfection for all terrain hiking in Joshua Tree. The color (a bit dusty in the photos) was beautiful, I will definitely buy this brand again.

This was my first purchase of Altra's and I am sold. Within an hour of trying them on and wearing them right out of the box, I ordered my second pair. In less than a week, I ordered a pair for my husband, and his second pair arrived today. In recent years, I have worn Brooks, Saucony, Asics and Adidas, and haven't found anything that felt this good on my feet.

I wear a size 8 women's Merrell Vapor Glove and other minimalist shoes and an 8.5 in trail runners. I sized up to a 9 in Altras because this is a more constructed, heavier duty trail shoe. I wear a slightly heavier sock and want more toe room for steep declines. Amazingly good traction soles. Removable insole. Love the wider toe box and narrower heel, although I do have a bit of heel slippage. The fabric looks pretty durable, too, but I've only worn them once after a rain.

I have a Morton's Neuroma on my left foot and it is extremely painful if my shoes fit snug. I love Altras because of the toe box width but some of them have been painful to wear. I order the Lone Peak 4.5 Trail Running Shoe last week and wore them all weekend with NO PAIN!!! I was so pleased with them that I ordered another pair. If you need extra toe room in your running shoes, I highly recommend the Lone Peak 4.5. They are fantastic.

Like: Fit well (I always buy a 1/2 size larger that my usual size), good positioning of the drain ports. The tread is definitely more aggressive and a bit less slippery on wet rocks. The Altra Lonepeak 4.0 and 4.5's seem to dry faster than the 3.5's when they get wet. Nice and cool to wear, so socks are not wet from sweat. Not too important, but I do like the greater variety of colors available. They are comfortable right out of the box, Things I don't like: the finger loop on the back needs to be a bit larger. Even my smaller fingers have a hard time with those. That is my small nitpick.

Best shoes ever. I work in a cath lab, so my feet have been killing me. A nurse told me about these and how much she loves them. I tried the Dansko, but they just were not for me. So I tried these, and OMG I can't say enough positive things about this shoe! They are so light and I love how the toe portion is wider. I literally loved them so much I purchased myself a second pair for outside of the lab and I also bought my husband a pair. You really won't be disappointed. Worth the money, unlike unfortunately for my Dansko shoes.

My new favorite Altra trail runners, super comfortable! I hated the 4.0 as the tongue was too bulky and they felt too narrow but too long. I love the changes to the 4.5 and now wear a half size smaller with a great fit. Love the navy and green color!

I said I would never go back to Altras due to the toe box being too high and the midfoot being too wide. However, the Altra Lone Peak fits perfectly (size 10). I forefoot strike when I run, so the wide toe box is great for proper toe splay without my foot slipping around in the shoe. Altra describes this shoe on their website as having medium cushioning; it feels like less to me. The thin, flexible rock plate that runs the length of the shoe is fine on trails, but less than ideal on gravel roads. I definitely feel every rock with each step. Overall, the shoe is light, flexible, and most enjoyable for running technical forest trails.

These shoes are very comfortable. I have worn Altra shoes for the last year and love the wider toe box and the zero drop. This pair does look a little big in the toe area but I think they will be fine after I add my orthotics. I also like how lightweight and bendable this shoe is. The pattern of the tread looks like it will help while hiking over rocks in the Narrows and Angels Landing in Utah.

I have been using the Lone Peak 4.5 for the last few weeks and it has been a game-changer. I am able to hike further without any discomfort. The toe box is a bit wider than normal which helps for any swelling for long-distance hikes. The tread is pretty aggressive which has helped as I cross slippery rock, moss, and muddy areas. They also have a fair amount of cushion. I love these so much that I have recommended them to friends and family and have the men's version for my husband.
