After purchasing this strop, I realized it needs the tougher white compound as well as the green that comes with it since the leather is a little harder than the softer suede strop types. I had some problems out of my ignorance of the product and the company’s customer service proved to be outstanding. They went out of their way to send me tutorials and other helpful tools. I can’t say enough wonderful things about their products and their legendary customer service.

This strop is very well made with a beautiful heavy wood handle! I was very surprised to see this handle made out of solid oak as I’m sure that’s what it is due to grain pattern and weight! If your in the market for a strop for your knives whether they are bushcraft, EDC or woodworking knives you will not go wrong with this strop! Thanks BeaverCraft you did it again 👍🏻

It is a very nice strop. It is three times bigger than my old one. Double sided do I can put a polishing compound on one side and the other side clean for final stops. I would highly recommend this strop.

The paddle strop has leather on both sides. The kit came with a polishing compound, too, that you can put on one side. There are a couple of screw holes, one on each end, to let you mount it on a workbench or thread a leather thong for hanging when not in use. Nicely engraved with a little beaver on the side. Much better than using my belt!

Great product for a good price. I was a little apprehensive at first because of the odd black tanning of the leather. However, the leather is of good quality and I have not had any issues with it. Besides, once the strop is used, it turns black from steel anyway; so perhaps the color choice was to reduce the psychological impact when the strop darkens after use. The description said that one side is smooth leather and the other is more of a suede. My strop had smooth leather on both sides, which I prefer. The leather itself had no defects and took the stropping paste easily, without having to apply heat to get the paste to adhere onto the leather. The wooden paddle that the leather was laid on is also well made. I recommend this strop for both its quality and price.

It's a piece of leather on a sturdy wodden back and it works fine. Stropping (running a knife over a secured piece of leather) is necessary as it helps to align the microscopic serrations on a sharpened blade and helps give the blade a more streamlined edge. This strop is great cause it's cheep and there is really no need for an expensive strop as they're all just pieces of leather on some form of hard back. Some companies will try to give you "better" leather or "better" wood in an attempt to charge more money for them, but it's generally just bs. Basically all strops are the same and there's really no reason to ever pay more than like $25 for one.

Decent product saved me time from making my own. I would have had to buy a piece of scrap leather for like $18 some kind of adhesive let's say $5 than some wood another $5 than jewelers compound $10 than the time to make it let's say my times worth $20 an hour takes 30 mins tops to cut, sand, drill, cut leather, glue it on. That would have been $48 double the price this strop cost. Comes with jewelers compound. Some reviewers say that it's hard. Heat it up and rub it into the leather (no brainer). Time will tell if this company has done a good job adhering the leather to the wood. But I will end with this after sharpening my pocket knife on a ceramic stone medium. Than stropping with this is the sharpest that thing has ever been hair shaving and paper cutting sharp . BUY IT NO BRAINER.....

For the price I'd have to say this strop is incredibly nice. The wood is finished exquisitely and comparing strops in this price range this is an incredibly great value for the quality. I purchased the large to cover pretty much any knife I own and it has quickly cleaned up the edges on my Bark River Aurora, several Spyderco's, an LT Wright Genesis, etc. I'd happily pay a little more for BC to include a black/gray compound for the other side of the strop. Other than that I would definitely purchase another one. BC, if you're listening, please make a small, field version I can put in my pack too!

I found the leather &wood sharpening strop to be of excellent quality. The adhesive that holds the leather strips to the wood holds up well. It accepts the application of any type of buffing rouge to help with the honing of any blade that will fit on it. From small carving knives to large TWICA CAM blades for bowl and spoon carving. This strop is economically priced and well worth the investment.

I bought 7 different strops and this was the only one worth the time. Good solid strop with quality leather.
