We are taiwanese and would like to celebrate the lunar new year oversea. We are very glad that we made this choice, since the taste of this mullet roe is the same as what we had during lunar new year in Taiwan. Just simply immerse the mullet roe in rice wine for 20 min, and then bake it at 350F for 5 min. It will be your perfect dish to share with friends!!!

This was a new product for us. I saw a recipe in NYT Cooking that called for bottarga and had never heard of it, despite having eaten my way around Sicily. I ordered it from my phone immediately with the Amazon app. The package showed up very quickly. The product is packaged perfectly, and in a way that allows you to grate the bottarga without putting your fingers on it. Most importantly, we loved how it tastes and what it added to the dish. My husband and sons loved it. It is so tasty, but not overwhelmingly fishy. It added a lot of flavor and, I think, reduced the need for salt because it is so flavorful. Normally I would have added shaved Parmesan or Asiago to the dish, but it didn't need the extra flavor. So maybe it is also good if you are trying to cut out cheese/dairy. I would also say that the weight of my sample was toward the high side of the company's estimated weight range. Totally happy. Will order again.

Have been getting bottarga from a local Italian store up until recently when they decided to discontinue it. For over 9 years I have been paying for the same quantity( about 3 oz) over $50. And never have I looked back even paying that much because this is a God sent food. I am not sicilian, I have learned about this unique bottarga many years in the past while watching a Anthony Bourdain show, where he was offered an amazing Italian feast over his wife's relatives in Sicily. I remember vividly how impressed he was by a very simple yet very flavorful dish made only with spaghetti, a few finely sliced garlic cloves, olive oil and bottarga. I love garlic, I love OO and this dish sounded appealing to me. I also remember he said you either love it or hate it, and that most of the time it is an acquired taste. Which he was not far from. I have first made it while pregnant with my first son and I remember I liked it but I was not that crazy about it as I was hoping for. Next day, all I wanted to eat was bottarga pasta. I have probably eaten this dish tens of times in that pregnancy and I have a genius child( hahah).Same effect on my husband. He loved it as well, not that he's become a genius:)) Back to this product, same original taste, same high quality, the only difference is the low, very low and affordable price, By ordering a single item from this seller you will be able to make a pound of spaghetti, as long as you have a very good olive oil and a few cloves of garlic on hand. Very fast shipping as well. Order the product, meanwhile go get the rest of the items, watch Anthony Bourdain's show (just google it) and after you get the item get ready for a "gastronomical orgasm". if it's not love at first sight, give it a second chance. It might be the love of your life. Also, research the benefits! If I could give it a 10 stars, I would!!!

Years ago I ordered Pasta con Vongole at a beautiful restaurant in Santa Monica called Portofino. I had been eating pasta with clams sauce for many years, both red and white. All delicious. But there was something about this particular sauce that was not only fascinating but absolutely delicious. I asked the server for the recipe. It wasn't particularly exotic in relation to other recipes that I had tried. But then he revealed that they shave bottarga on top just before the serve it. What a revelation. But I had no idea where to buy it. And when I saw that Poseidon Bottarga was easily ordered on-line I could not resist. Believe me, it is a garnish that you cannot live without once you have tried it!!!! By the way, it may seem a bit pricey, but if you compare it to the price you would pay in a restaurant to have it specially added to your pasta dish, it is an excellent deal. I always have it on hand now.

Excellent quality bottarga. I am also impressed that my medium (2.46-3.5 oz.) size weighed 3.8 oz.!! I ordered the medium because the large was not available. I understand that future orders may be smaller and thereby compensate, but WOW!, what a great surprise on my first order. Given the great quality and the little extra quantity, I will definitely order Poseiden bottarga again and again. For my first dish, I used about a third of the bottarga (1.25 oz.). I lightly fried a couple of cloves of sliced garlic and some red pepper flakes in 1 Tbs olive oil and 1 Tbs sweet butter and stirred in about 1/4 lb. al dente linguini with about 2 Tbs pasta water. Then, I dumped this pasta into a preheated bowl and mixed in 3/4 of the 1.25 oz. bottarga chunk grated and topped it off with the rest sliced and freshly ground black pepper. I reckon that they serve this at least once a week in heaven. Try it. It will tang your buds real good!

Bought to use in a taramasalata (Greek caviar spread). This was my first time using bottarga for this as I previously had used salted cod roe. This bottarga gave the spread a nice briny flavor but not too fishy (although I actually like fishy things), The product on its own was so good I want to try it on a pasta with bottarga recipe. It may be my new favorite secret ingredient/condiment..... I bet you could sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, bagels with cream cheese, even mashed potatoes..mmmm

Upon having compared this to others in my quest for the best bottarga, this is probably my favorite. But I have to be careful cause it's so good I will just keep eating it! Slice for slice it's the softest melt in your mouth texture and and almost a sweetness that makes it easy to keep snacking on if you're not careful. Definitely a good begginer bottarga if you're not sure. The flavor is incredible, somewhere between fishy, smoky, and a little eggy(go figure). At first it almost tastes like sushi with the flavor ramped up to 80, but grabs some subtle nutty or almost musky aftertaste. I feel like it could go on almost anything but I've used in grated over seafood pasta and on its own with a cheese plate. I don't know if I'm preparing it right. But it's delicious so I don't care.

Love it! It’s so hard to get this in the US. I used to purchased international from Taiwan, but now I can get it here and faster. The only drawback might be ... the size is smaller than I thought. Just simply soak with some cooking wine for 5 minutes each side to remove the skin, preheat oven to 400f then bake it for 3 mins, slice while it cool down And then it’s ready to eat! So yummy to go with sliced apples!!

Awesome taste! I love sashimi of all kinds, so eating this is not a stretch for me. I enjoy fine dining, stinky cheeses, and other great foods and spices. This botarga was a huge suprise for me in both quality and taste. I’m very happy I tried it. I will stock this in my personal pantry from now on!

Received my order and the packaging was great. I have traveled and bought these on my trips to Italy, Taiwan, Greece, etc. and this product is just as good if not better. It was very creamy, not too dry, perfect for toasting in the oven, and adding to your favorite dish or eating it directly with crackers and some refreshing wine. Absolutely fantastic!
