Wonderful little tool!

I have more than a dozen chisels and planes. I can't believe what lousy shape they were in after years of me doing the best I could do to keep them sharp. It took an afternoon of work, but I managed to make them as sharp as they were when I bought them, most even sharper. A few were so bad that I had to use a mill file instead of a stone to get them to the proper angle. Now that I have re-established the proper angle and edge they will be easy to maintain. I wish I'd had this little inexpensive tool years ago. I sharpened a little 3" plane that I had just purchased, it made a tremendous difference. This tool is highly recommended.

A well made sharpening jig

The angle you will produce with this is entirely related to how accurate you can measure how much tool is sticking out the front, while trying to hold it in the proper position in the jig (the instructions give distances down to the hundredth of an inch). It can be a little clumsy, and trial and error prone, but the results are awesome. I may try to build some sort of measuring jig for this so I can replicate the perfect 25 degree angle.

Works as expected.

I only sharpened 3 chisels with it, because that is all I have. Works per instructions that are included. Very pleased.

Great product

Easy to use, clear instructions, and a handy chart to set the correct angle. I especially like how the instructions explain how to use it for a mortising chisel as well as a paring chisel since the mortising chisel won't fit in the little grooves.

I like the design of this tool. I only wish I had known of this decades ago!

Great product

This is a great little product; inexpensive but marvelously useful for honing plane blades. It is well made and works like a charm. Customer service is spot on, too.

One of my favorite new tools for under $20

I've always been bad at sharpening chisels. This tool makes it easy and now all my chisels are sharper than I'll ever need them.

Tool works great after you remove the paint coating that so the steel sets flat in the jig
