Works great, didn't need to do anything to pair out of the box.

I'm a big fan of previous controllers that 8Bitdo has made for the other mini consoles (NES, Super Nintendo) and this controller is no exception. I didn't need to do anything to pair the controller out of the box and merely plugged the USB receiver into controller port 1 and it connected fine. I'm not sure why the first few reviewers had issues but I didn't experience any of those issues. The controller also has a nice weight and matte finish so it doesn't feel too slick like the original Genesis controller sometimes did.

Works great with Genesis mini and Switch

I’m really impressed with this controller. I’ve got a couple of 8bitdo controllers already, but I’ve been holding off on getting an M30 for a while as it doesn’t exactly mimic the styling of standard Genesis 6 button controllers. For my Original Genesis I actually bought their DIY kit and installed it in one of the new Retro Bit licensed controllers, which I’m also happy with. But this is a cheaper, and the controller is great. It’s been pug and play with my Genesis mini and Switch. Might be the nicest Street Fighter game pad I’ve ever used.

Does It’s Job!!

This is a great product that doesn’t feel cheap. No syncing issues, the actual pad is not too big, small thick or thin. Also can go to the homescreen without pressing reset on console.

Input Malfunction - FIXED!

First & foremost, most of you wonder that between the controller & receiver connected successfully but the input buttons doesn't work especially for Sega Genesis Mini and start complaining already. Before you jump to conclusions, did you update firmware first for these devices (controller & receiver) after you open out of the box? If not, just go to 8Bitdo support page and look for this devices' update then install the latest firmware and walla! Now the issue is fixed. If the issue still not fixed, just contact this manufacturer for other options. Keep in mind that when purchasing any electronic devices ie. smartphone, tablet, gaming console, smart TV, etc... After you unbox them, you need to update their software/firmware BEFORE using it otherwise they will not work properly. Secondly, these controller & receiver work fine, it's very simple setup and wonder why this bundle is cheaper a bit than the other one without both 2.4g & receiver. The difference between the two is the bluetooth integration.

Works perfectly

I bought this already expecting the possibility of needing to update its firmware right out of the box based on other reviews I've seen. When I plugged it in though, it worked just fine, no problem. Just plug in the adapter, press the start button on the controller, and that's it. Besides that, the controller itself is beautiful and it feels great. It has a real quality finish, and I don't have any complaints at all. This version of the model doesn't have bluetooth capabilities, but I really only got it to use on my Genesis Mini anyway, so I didn't mind not having to spend an extra $5 for the bluetooth one.

Another quality 8Bitdo controller.

I'm surprised to see several reviews stating that their controllers don't work. Mine paired with the receiver instantly and plays without any noticable latency. Like other 8Bitdo controllers, the form factor is great! The home button is also a welcome quality of life addition. This is a very comfortable controller and works flawlessly with my Genesis Mini and Nintendo Switch. I hope the negative reviews are the exception to the rule, because this has quickly become my default way to play the Genesis Mini.

If yours doesn't work contact 8bitdo for update!

It works now! I pre-ordered this controller. I plugged it in and it doesn't work with the genesis mini. I came to amazon for the reviews and everyone is experiencing the same thing. I'm hoping they come out with a fix soon! Update: i emailed 8bitdo and they got back to me The next day with an update to apply. And all is wonderful with the world. Thanks 8bitdo!

The Perfect Sega Retro Controller

The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini is perfect but, if you're looking for the perfect six button controller to pair with it, this is it! The included USB receiver plugs right into the Sega Mini and or Analogue SG and requires no additional set up. It's ready to go! The design quality and comfort are nothing short of amazing. A Lot of care when itnot this thing and it shows. Playing all my favorite 16-bit games has never been better. I can't recommend this controller enough! Photos to come...

wont work unless you have the firmware update

so here it is I bought this at launch I did not work so I thought it was broke so I had new ones sent to me they did the same crap but then a firmware update came out and now they are all I could ask for

I bought two and they both work

I bought two and they both work fine. Plugged the receiver into the Min and turned the controllers on. They were already paired and just work. This set also works fine on PC. Plugged in the receiver to a Windows 10 PC and the drivers installed automatically.
