Great Range

I am amazed at how great the range is on these for the price. I got these to take to the woods so that we can keep in contact with each other and even with all of the trees we were able to hear crystal clear at probably half a mile maybe even a little farther. I didn't get the rechargeable kind but we used all day and still had had battery power left. I am really happy with this purchase.

Super solid choice for price

Don’t be put off by the three star rating on the sound quality. I’m a sound snob and it would have to be truly superior to rate four or five stars! I use a $1700 radio every day that I would only give four stars to. I bought these radios after my family and I tried to play with some toy radios around the house. The toys were a massive fail and a waste of the money we spent. These radios so far (about a week) have been excellent. We live in a decently hilly and forested area, so I doubt we will realize five miles, but we haven’t had a chance to really see how far we can get. The farthest we’ve gone is about 500 yards and down a hill and it was no different than both of us being next to each other. My only complaint is the belt clip is not very flexible, and would not go over thick material very well.

These are AMAZING

I bought the 4 pack to go camping with the kids. I did not want expensive walkie's as my kids are 6 and 11. I have had many walkie talkies and were disappointed when they didn't even work house to house or car to car and were 4 times the price of these units. These things are loud, crisp and clear! I had my daughter get on her bike and start riding the neighborhood thinking we'd lose reception about a street or so over. She rode to her school which is three quarters of a mile away in the neighborhood, and it sounded like she was right next to me. I am totally impressed. I haven't used them camping yet - but when we go here next week I'll be sure to update with results. Update: Went camping and these things are just flat out amazing. All 4 days we used these things like crazy. Not one of them needed to have the battery replaced. They still showed a full charge or one had 1 line down. We were in the middle of the forest and with all the trees, the kids and some parents took a hike. They were over a mile and a half away and still had no issues. They were able to radio back to me to come get them as they didn't want to walk the mile and a half back! These are amazing! Update 2: went camping again for 4 days over Labor Day. Same batteries from when I bought them. Kids love them. Can't go wrong with these.

These little guys had a strong signal even at 1.8 miles over water!

I just attended my annual offshore fishing trip and needed a two way that was easy to use and reliable. These run off two triple A batteries and basically lasted me throughout the entire trip. The average time use is right around 4 hours a day. The signal and clarity of these walkie talkies are really good for the price point. I was afraid my buddies and me would lose these while on the trip, so I wanted to buy a set of two ways with a budget in mind. These performed beyond my expectations and can be used and reused for many other events. The volume of the reception is nice and loud. I only found myself having to change the channel for a better call to my other walkies once and that was because we had to drive through a heavily wooded area. The overall build of these walkies are great and for the price point I'm blown away. These can be easily compared to high end up walkies for a fraction of the price. Only downside for these (which really deserve less of a star rating) was that they do not come with the triple A batteries that are required to power the walkies. Not really a big issue, but for other buyers, be sure to have eight triple A's ready before leaving on your adventure with these walkies!

Strong performance for the price

I bought these looking for something cheap to allow my family to easily communicate when out in places with poor service (hiking, skiing, etc...). These are inexpensive walkie-talkies so my expectations were pretty low when I ordered them. I was happily surprised by the build quality (although its nothing super-special), pretty much all plastic throughout but solid. The sound quality is good, even over medium distances we were able to hear each other clearly. Pros: Inexpensive, 4-pack, easy to use/setup Cons: Doesn't come with rechargeable batteries, specifications are different (5KM vs 5mi) depending on what part of the document you read. Overall: For a $10/unit product this is a 5/5, if it was more expensive it wouldn't be worth the money.

Excellent purchase

Bought these with amazon rechargeable batteries so my kids could play with the neighbors. Other walkie talkies didn’t go far enough to work- tried 3 other brands and they would all lose range due to the forest/trees that separate our homes. This has had crystal clear reception. Easy enough that the 6 year old operates it & we really don’t pick up other chatter. Kids love it so I do too! Works great

These walkie talkies are pretty good. We used them to communicate while my husband does yard work. I love not having to go search for him. They are also helpful when he's on the roof and needs something. I was surprised by the sound quality. I can't wait to take them on our next hiking trip. I wish they didn't need 4 AAA batteries each but other than that I have really enjoyed using them. I would recommend them.

Good range, low consumption, so far so good

Useful , handy , good range I have bought it for my group trips. One positive point is that the package comes with 4 radio. In fact i don't need to buy anything more because its enough for me. Its seems to me that the quality of voice ( mic and speaker ) is well and you can understand any transmittined voices clearly. The us model of this product is works on 22 direct channel from 462.5625 - 467.7125 MHZ. The informations about changes frequency comes as a catalog with device. This information will useful for anyone like me who wants be stay connect with another's walkie talkie. Coverage range isn't extraordinary as i excepted ( in this price ) but its really good and enough for me. I have tasted with 3 miles distance and works great ( in urban inviroment ). What i really couldn't stand with this at the first was the batteries. I thought it was a big problem with this. But i need to say sounds extra low consumption. The materials that had used for this could be better. At the end i suggest you purchase it if you need to 4 pcs radio for fancy usage.

Not just toys!

These walkie-talkies are PERFECT for just about any activity where you need to talk to someone while you're out on some adventure. (We even use them when we go shopping. I get half the shopping list and she gets the other half. We go opposite directions in the giant stores and keep in touch with these wonderful little guys.) Super easy to operate. Just turn them on and push to talk. Or set it to VOX (voice activated transmit) and just keep them somewhere on your front, upper body and you don't even have to push the button, the sound of your voice will be enough to activate it. There are more features to these walkie-talkies than I can list here, that make them perfect for nearly any environment, including professional work in the field, including squelch, CTCSS and 'roger tones'. You can even keep things quiet by plugging in an earphone. They have a small flashlight built in. But, I would not depend on it to light my way on a dark night, just for digging around in your tent or backpack. In my video, I was down at a friends house, three blocks away, and talking to my wife, who was still at home. The price for this four unit set was crazy cheap, for the quality and function built into it. Great purchase. Five stars.

They work!

I confess I didn’t have high expectations for these, but thought they were worth a try. We live in a fairly dense suburban neighborhood across the street from a fire station, and with a couple other good sized brick structures nearby. It’s also a bit hilly and lots of old trees. I was hoping these would work to the woods about a half mile from our house, and they do! From that point outward, though, we start to hit hills, and reception is poor. But they do what I need them to, and that makes them a steal!
