I bought this engraver to both engrave my tools and also to try it out on little metal plates used in jewelry. For both applications, it worked quite well. The first few metal plates were a bit sloppy because of overly high power settings, The installation was quite easy. First loosen the grub screw and attach the carbide steel bit. I was a bit concerned at first when I couldn't see the screw, but after rotating the part where the bit goes, it became visible. After the bit is installed, all you have to do is pick your "power" setting and turn it on. The engraver was easy to hold, but I can imagine it being harder to hold for smaller hands. The engraver does get a bit hot after prolonged use (30 minutes), but I really don't recommend using for 30 minutes continuously anyway. That being the case, this is definitely great for the hobbyist.

The varying speed is a plus along with the multiple tips provided - although it seems a bit loud at higher speed, it doesn't take away from an overall good product. Works great for marking tools and other personal items to aid in recovery it taken - or simply whom to return to if mistakenly taken. Thanks!

Ergonomics The design of this product is very comfortable. The tool is very easy to hold and use. Despite it being larger than a pen - it is still easy to use. Weight The weight is not overly burdensome Ease of use The tool is created with a lock to remove/add the actual wood/glass engraving tip. It is very convenient and easy to manipulate. The use on actual woods is very easy.

It obviously doesn't prevent loss or theft, but when your biggest issue is someone else in the shop claiming everything you have is actually his this goes a long ways. My grandpa had an engraver and his name is etched in everything and I wanted to follow suit. It's great!

The Utool engraver blew me away my its ease of use in the different setting options. I have only had a chance to play around with it a little bit but i was impressed by the carving depth into walnut hard wood i used. Has an easy grip and great mobility, also very easy to manipulate. Very clean finished product! Only downside is its pretty loud, but you can always pit earmuffs on. Would HIGHLY recommend this product! Quality and price 100% worth it.

This has been a great little tool. One of my hobbies is making arcade game cabinets like there used to be all over the place and with this I can easily add some little customizations. One thing I noticed is that the allen wrench is pretty flimsy, but I didn't buy it for the allen wrench. It's relatively easy to use. Before you put the head in you'll want to loosen it almost completely, put it in, then tighten it. After that just plug it in and flip the switch!

Super easy to use, there's a slight learning curve inherent to learning to write with a vibrating tool, of course, but the grip is comfortable, it is easy to hold, and works well. I've used it on metal tools and wood so far with great results. The included stencil is a plus, as well. Highly recommended.

There is no doubt that this is a powerful tool. Although it looks small, you can easily engrave on hard steel. The handle (the black part) is covered by soft rubber, making it comfortable to use without getting blisters. But since it keeps vibrating during running, your hands may feel a little numb if you work for a long time. Therefore, I don't recommend to use it continuously for a long time. A break after a few engraved letters may be better as it also helps machine cool down. In general, it’s a very useful tool. It is perfect for beginners like me. I highly recommended it!

I have tried the engraver on metal and wood, it worked great! Compared with wood, the pattern carved on the metal is more obvious, maybe because the wood I chose is too darker in color, but that’s ok. It holds like a big fat pencil, not that heavy as I thought before, and easy to control. Like others said, it seems a bit loud, but it doesn't matter, I think that’s normal, because this engraver has a strong power, if you choose the slower settings, the noise will be smaller. I tried all the different speeds and found that the carved line would be more coherent and steadier with slower speed setting. As the speed goes faster, the mark gets deeper and less coherent. All in all, I’m satisfied with it.
