Perfect helper
I ordered these to keep track of my two generators running time. It is simply impossible to keep track of the time use without writing it down. With these hour meters, I can now accurately keep track of the run times to perform oil changes and scheduled maintenance. The hour meters are so easy to install. Just run the cable from where you want to mount the meter, to the spark plug wire. Wrap at least 5 times around the spark plug wire, and secure with electrical tape. Peel off the adhesive backing from the hour meter and stick it where you want it. Done! Now just start your engine and see if you get a blinking hour glass on the display, if so, it is working. These are worth every penny and I find them to be an invaluable tool for my generators. They will work with any small engine. It is a super value and, and they get 5 stars.

Easy to install and accurate for use on portable generator
Purchased a couple of these for use on 2 small inverter generators so I'd be able to keep up with recommended maintenance for oil changes. Found them to do an excellent job, so purchased and installed a third on another generator. There is a supplied pickup wire that one has to wrap and secure around the spark plug wire, with the other end tucked into a groove on the back of the meter. I then used the enclosed screws to attach the meter to the orange generator, running the wire through a hole I drilled through the generator case behind the meter. The meter on the 3rd unit (yellow) was attached with double-sided foam tape to the gas tank. All hardware is provided with the meter. After almost 400 hours of use I'm very pleased.

Way Cool!
What an amazing device! I used to try to manually record power equipment run times for scheduling run-time based maintenance, but I never attained anything close to an accurate accounting. This inductive hour meter is THE magical, affordable solution. Installation instructions are a bit weird, written by someone whose 1st language is other than English and using the metric system, advising to mount the unit using a "2.5 mm socket". Translation: Drill screw holes using a 3/32" drill bit. Also metric is instruction on proximity to the spark plug cap at which to begin 5-turns of the sensor wire. Plenty of wire provided for flexibility in finding a suitable mounting location. Great product, the right tool for the job!

Hour meter for Champion 3400 Inverter generator
Purchased this hour meter to install on my new Champion 3400 duel fuel inverter generator (model #100263). Easy installation instructions. Used double sided tape instead of the two supplied screws to attach it to the top of the generator. I ran the generator for 6 minutes and the hour meter read 0.1 hours which was accurate of the tested run time.

Easy, Accurate & Looks Like a Factory Install!
It was as easy to install as everybody said and I am not savvy with these kinds of gadgets. I installed on a Champion Inverter Generator 3400 W. As you can see it looks very clean and only one small hole. I used Gorilla double sided tape and it worked great! The tape is spongee and clear. I was concerned how to loop the wires around the spark plug wire so I showed a picture which is exact what they recommended in the instructions. It was easier than I thought it would be. Be sure to give youself plenty of wire to loop. The only change I recommend is to drill and run the wire into the hole before attaching to the spark plug wire. I did it their way as suggested to test it first and had to take it apart and run the wire through the hole and reattach to the spark plug wire. Luckily they give you extra zip ties. No way could I run the wire from the back of the generator casing. I checked the accuracy and it is pretty accurate for what is needed. Overall very impressed given the price!

Easy Installation, Accurate
I finally decided to take care of some of my equipment properly this year. Aside from letting gas, especially two stroke, sit in the fuel tank for too long, I never really knew how many hours I was putting on a couple of small engines that I have. Along with other factors, run hours is fairly important to track. Last year I purchased two what I would consider, bigger ticket items. One was one of those walk behind trimmers for about $650 and the other was a generator off of Amazon for a few hundred. I bought two of these meters to track their run hours. Installation was a snap, it took about 10 minutes. It took more time deciding where I wanted the meter and planning out the small wire run than it did to install. It has been a couple months but it comes with the meter, screws, and zip ties. You can use one or the other or both together to mount. I started by wrapping the wire around the spark plug wire several times and then securing that "coil" with a small zip tie right behind it to keep it tidy. Then I chose a spot to mount the meter, ensuring that the remainder of this coil wire could reach where I wanted it to. All you do is run the wire into some clips, two or three, that are on the face of the meter. Anyways, I am happy with this purchase. It installs super easy and it helps protect your investment as it can direct you precisely when to perform maintenance. What are these, like $10? Now, when I run my portable generator monthly, I know down to the 6 minutes interval how long that engine has operated. Time for that oil change!

Looks good
Bought for my 2018 Yamaha Drive2 golf cart. Installation was a breeze. Drilled one hole for the wire and two holes for the mounting screws. Then wrapped the wire around the spark plug wire and tie wrapped it. Drove around a bit to check it out and it's working! I mounted it below the driver's seat, so I didn't have to run the wire very far. I suppose the dash might be better, but how often are you really going to be looking at it?

As decried- great value .
Works good . Great shipping. Great value . I put it on a towable trencher backhoe to keep track for maintenance. Item as described. Two minutes to install, I kinda tucked in it under gas tank to protect it but still easy to read. Not sure if you can replace battery or if it will ever need changed ? It is small, plastic - light weight . But for $10 it’s better than I expected, don’t foresee and problems with it .

Time to change the oil?
I use these on all my small engines - generators, chain saws, mowers. It’s a cheap, easy way of keeping track of run time for maintenance. I’ve bought a Half dozen of them from several sellers over the years and they’re all physically identical- just packaged differently- and they all work.

A MUST FOR ALL SMALL ENGINES
I have these installed on all my small engines (rototiller, chipper/shredder, generator, pressure washer) and it provides critical runtime information used for maintenance. It is very easy to connect to the spark plug of the engine and there is plenty of wire to run the display to a favorable location for mounting. An inexpensive way to track hours of usage.
