Crisp, fresh and delicious
Brazil nuts are hard to find in grocery stores and I found a number of vendors selling them on Amazon. These dry roasted Brazil nuts by "I'm a Nut" are delicious. I ordered on 03/04/2020 and the expiration date on the package is 02/20/2022 - almost two years away. I chose these because there are no oils added during dry roasting. Some of the other brands had comments mentioning the nuts tasted rancid, which could have been due to the oils added during roasting. These nuts taste crisp and fresh, and are exactly what I was hoping for. Plus, the price was lower than most other brands. High quality, no broken pieces, and the dry roasting and light sea salting bring out the flavor.

If you don’t like salted nuts, don’t buy the salted nuts.
Just purchased my second bag. I’m relatively new to the Brazil nut. I bought some bulk from Whole Foods while waiting for my first bag for comparison. I slightly prefer the raw unsalted but these are pretty great. Zero complaints!

Substantially better
When I buy a can of mixed nuts these days most of them are broken peanut pieces with a few other varieties mixed in. That is unless I pop for the so-called deluxe mix which contains fewer (or no) peanuts and lots more of the interesting varieties. But the fewest in the can usually seem to be the Brazil nut, I’m lucky if I get more than 5-6 of those, and they happen to be one of my two favorites. WHAT IS A BRAZIL NUT There is some interesting mystique in the Brazil nut story, like that the tree is one of the largest in the Amazon rain forests (160 feet high and over six foot diameter) and they can live 1000 years or more. The nut grows like the segments of an orange in a fruit that’s as large as a coconut and weighs over four pounds and takes 14 months to mature. It is high in fat - 25% saturated and 75% unsaturated. It is considered one of the healthiest nuts and is especially high in selenium, one single nut containing 175% of the RDI, the highest amount of any other nut. TASTE Unfortunately Brazil nuts don’t stay at their freshness peak for long and what you’ve tasted from a can of deluxe mixed nuts probably is already starting to go bad. These taste remarkably fresh and are much tastier than I’ve ever had. The fact that they only lightly dusted with sea salt also helps the flavor come through. RECOMMEND This is truly a deluxe bag of Brazil nuts, standing almost nine inches tall, containing only whole nuts that are noticeably fresher than most. I like them and I recommend them. FUN FACT: In Brazil, it is illegal to cut down a Brazil nut tree.

My Favorite
I remember being a kid and stealing all the Brazils from my parents' annual Thanksgiving bowl of mixed nuts. They're far and away my favorite nut, but they've always been treated like the ugly step-sister to almonds, cashews, pecans, hazelnuts, peanuts, macadamias...pretty much every other nut in the entire world. And boy, are they a pain in the neck to get out of their shells. So Imagine my surprise and delight to find an entire 2 lb. bag of Brazil nuts, already shelled and roasted for my eating pleasure! I honestly think this is the first and only time I've seen shelled Brazil nuts for sale on their own. The bag is nearly all whole nuts (no broken bits) that are lightly salted and perfectly crisp. And the price is surprisingly affordable. If, like me, you're a Brazil nut stan who's been waiting to see them as the star of the show, your chance has finally arrived.

Brazil nuts...
Since I was a kid, Brazil nuts have always been one of my favorites. The work to open up the tough shell was always worth the reward. Having a big 2 pound bag of pre-shelled Brazil nuts is all of the eating fun, without the trouble of the shell. These have a very fresh taste to them, and are lightly salted. They are dry roasted, and the flavor of the nut shines through. These are large whole nuts, and I've only found a few so far that are broken. So far, we've just been snacking on them. Per the request of my daughter, I plan to coat some in dark chocolate soon.

Yum!
It is so nice that these Brazil nuts are pre-shelled and salted. One of the most overwhelming tasks of enjoying nuts is finding a nut cracker, cracking correctly, disposing of the shells, then seasoning. This bag takes all that work out and allows me to go straight to enjoying the nuts - just what I want! They still taste very fresh, and I don't think the sea salt is overpowering. I am thankful that there is no added sugar or oil, which also makes them less messy. There is still some dust/parts of the nuts that flake off, but again, this proves their freshness and the fact that they are more natural. I love the crunch of each nut, especially since they are large, whole nuts! I would recommend these highly overall - they make for a great snack or meal addition!
