Accurate if pre-equilibrated

I find that this thermometer gives me accurate readouts that agree with two other thermometers (one digital, one mercury) IF I pre-equilibrate it by placing it under my tongue for approximately one minute before turning it on. If I take it right out of my medicine cabinet and attempt to make an immediate measurement, I get a value that is several degrees to low. My guess is that, while the electronics of the thermometer are capable of nearly instantaneously reading out the temperature of the metal probe, the probe itself has a high enough heat capacity that it takes ~60 seconds to come to the same temperature as my mouth. I think this may explain the problem in some other reviews with temperature readings that are consistently too low.

Thank God I found this right in time during the COVID-19 times! Nobody else had them but Amazon and it arrived fairly quick! Thank you. I was having some odd symptoms (I have cancer so I wasn’t sure what they might be due to) but no fever so that made my anxiety level so much better. Ty!

Quick and Easy

I'm glad I got this thermometer because it's so simple. Comes with a protective slide-in case and battery is included. The slide-in case is for the measuring/submersible end, not for the entire unit. Calibration really is fast, basically put it in a cup of warm water (not fully submerged) to get a reading that's higher than it's designed to register, then in cool water for the same, or really, opposite purpose. Then check it on you - done! It can read in just several seconds but 30 seconds is recommended. A beep tells you you're done for sure. One button and one press to start the reading. It shuts itself off. The insertable end is flexible, so nothing to break or to feel harsh in the mouth. But don't bite it! It comes with a package of single use sleeves, useful for rapidly checking person after person. The end you'd put in your mouth is still washable, just not in too-hot water. Use mild soap or mild dish detergent. Feels good in the hand, not cheap. So easy. This is a good choice

Accurate temperature

This thermometer has been very accurate with temperatures and ease of use. Works great for oral and external (under the arm) temps. This would be a great gift for a first time parent who would like an accurate temperature.

Great

I ordered this after my temperature was taken before entering a building and was told I had a temp of 100°. Obviously with all this covid stuff, i couldn’t find any thermometers in stores and so many are priced insanely high online. I was pleasantly surprised to see such good reviews for the price it is. I did the calibration as recommended first and it has been working so well. Worth the spend and happy about the price. The feel of the thermometer is very nice as well. The beep is really hard to hear but if you just count to ten, it’s easy enough.
