I use this can to temporarily dispose of used "puppy pads" when my two small dogs go potty. They are senior citizens now, and I don't want them to feel like they have to hold it all night (or during a long day), so I leave puppy pads on the floor of the bathroom in my apartment. The Ubbi can is a great place to toss the used pads so I don't need to trek down the hall to the garbage chute in the middle of the night. I never leave the used pads in the can for longer than a day, although the smell inside still gets pretty atrocious. Once the can is closed, though, it does a great job of locking the odor inside. I did find that putting a small, open container of odor-absorbing cat litter (I used a leftover plastic takeout food container) on the floor of the can (so it sits below the bag and doesn't interfere with anything) does help to absorb some of the smell. I attached a photo showing my cat litter container sitting in the can. You're still going to want to hold your breath when you open the can, though! I had tried using a Litter Genie for this same purpose and not only was it too small, but the custom bags were a pain in the neck and expensive. This is a far superior alternative for my purposes.

Let's be clear here folks, it is a diaper pail that uses any garbage bag you put in it. If you are delusional and think that it will never smell, especially when using a plain old kitchen trash bag or when opened, then this is not the diaper pail for you. Will it keep your kods room from smelling like poo? Totally! Will it totally smell like poo when opened or when at nose level with the closed can? Absolutely! You know why? Because it is a diaper pail with a kitchen trash bag...!... When we change the bag we do try to leave it open for a while to let it dry and air out because it does get a condensation buildup in the lid and we don't want it to rust. Only complaint I have is that the thing that holds the bag up sticks oit wuite a ways so you have to wiggle a full bag past it gently if you don't want it to rip. As other reviews state, there is a lock holding the sliding door closed but there is not a lock on the liftable lid, but it is rather hard to open the lift lid so I'm hoping little man won't ba able to open it and will be detered by the smell if he does get it open some day. Good enough that we bought a second one for our playroom downstairs... Don't be a dummy, of course it will rust and leak out the bottom if you don't use some sort of liner...

I think the idea of making a stainless steel pail is great! Not only is it easy to clean but the smell is well contained. I can even use my cloth diaper bag with this pail which was a major selling point for us! Cost is more than we wanted to spend, however it has proved to be worth it. Another plus, Amazon's shipping was super fast, especially considering the size of the thing! *In response to all the Negative Nellies out there...this product does not have magical properties. Of course it's going to smell when you open it, it's been holding dirty diapers! What matters is if it contains the smell when it's closed, which it DOES. (And which plastic ones do NOT.) Additionally, this is not a Mary Poppins bag! It's not bottomless, and it requires to be emptied on a REGULAR basis. Quit being lazy and empty your can before it gets so full you have to rip it out. These are NOT PRODUCT FAILURES, or reasons to mark a product down, deterring other people from having a great product, these are your own problems. If you are expecting magic in the real world, you have bigger issues than what to do with stinky poo. *Also, to help those of you claiming to have trouble with opening the sliding door...you must apply gentle downward pressure, THEN slide it open. With one hand, it works perfect every time. *This is coming from a mom of two, one who is no longer in diapers and the other a toddler with stinky boy poo. And who has previously owned plastic diaper pails that were less than satisfactory in the smell and clean departments. I hope this helps the sensible people out there.

This product is amazing! We had a diaper genie for years before we bought this. When they are newborns their diapers don't stink as bad so it's not a big deal. But older baby poop has a much stronger smell. We started putting the duper genie in the garage because we didn't want our house to smell like poop. And the replacement liners are ridiculously expensive. This product solves both problems. Since it is made of metal it holds the smell in. I have put some really gross smelling diapers in there and there is still no smell in the room. And this product using ordinary trash bags, which saves tons of money! There is also a child lock on the top so your toddler can't open the pail. Amazing product. So glad we bought it. Pays for itself over a diaper genie because of using ordinary trash bags.

I was hesitant on spending this much money on a trash can (I'm a pretty thrifty person) but I'm so glad I did! I LOVE the fact that you don't have to buy special bags! I've been using the same bags I use in my kitchen trash & it's been working beautifully! No smell, very easy to operate with one hand, & very nice looking!! I also bought Ubbi's wipe holder & am very happy with that as well!!! UPDATED REVIEW - A MUST READ: This trash can really is amazing!!! My baby had a big blow out one night...& I mean like "Whooooaaaa! That's impressive" blow out! I tossed the full diaper in the Ubbi & thought to my self I need to take that bag outside as soon as I can because we were leaving for the weekend. Well I totally forgot (new Mom brain). After getting back home, I went into my baby's room to put away her things & to change her diaper. I thought to myself, "Oh it smells so good & clean in here!" I go to open the Ubbi to toss a dirty diaper & got SLAPPED in the face with the stench of the award winning diaper blow out from a few days before! Wow was it bad! But I must give big props to Ubbi!!! This trash can concealed the nostril burning stench perfectly! I didn't smell a hint of it when I walked into the room. I'm so happy I purchased this trash can!

We've been using this for two years and it's one of those baby products that we can't live without. It doesn't require a special bag. We use the 13 gallon garbage bags that we use for the kitchen garbage. You could probably use one half the size, but I never bothered looking for another type. It does smell if we keep the lid open, but when it's shut, you can't smell anything. Our daugher's in daycare full time, but with the normal morning and night diapers plus weekend diapers, we only need to empty it out once a week. When she was a newborn we probably emptied it out twice a week, but all in all this worked great for our needs.

I must explain why I'm in love with a trashcan. I purchased this to use for my dog's backyard bombs. I live in a community where you can't leave your large trashcans outside. For those of us with dogs, leaving bombs in our trash cans in our garage is not an option with southern heat. I have this set-up outside our back door and its worked like s charm. It holds a standard bag, which I love. It doesn't need filters, which I really appreciate since I have 2 dogs and it will wear it fast. So far, there has been no smell at all. I love that you can pick a design so it doesn't look like a trashcan. I went with the grey chevron. It's subtle and really dresses it up. The bin is very solid with a good weight. The plastic parts are sturdy and heavier gauge. When you open the lid, there's a second holder that keeps the bag in place and creates a funnel to drop the item to the bag's bottom. When you close the top lid, everything locks in place on its own. The top snaps close to the body of the can. On top, there is a slide door that is super easy. The best feature for me is the little lock on the top. It's a round button, where you twist right to lock and left to unlock. The lock secures the push back handle and the top lid. With the lock in place, kids and pets cannot access the inside bin. I would definitely recommend this unit!!!

I overall love my pill but there are some pros and cons! Overall, I do feel like this was a good purchase and I will be continuing to use it as my son gets older — but it does have a few flaws that I wish I knew before buying. PROS; 1) Can use any trash bag so you don’t have to buy those special bags for your pail 2) Made of sturdy metal that doesn’t break easily 3) Has a “lock” lid to keep odors in and from the lid opening by accident CONS; 1) Sometimes it doesn’t hold scents in well. -- I have personally used baking soda to help mask the smell or I just make sure to roll up the diapers really tightly before throwing them away! I noticed that if the diapers are all tight, the smell stays in. But if you throw OPEN diapers away then the smell can get out. 2) The “child lock” isn’t very child-proof. It’s more for babies than children because all you have to do is turn the lock to unlock it and I feel that any child over the age of one could figure this out. 3) Doesn’t have a “hands free” option like most pails but this personally doesn’t bother me — could be a negative for some of you tho 4) It’s so SHORT! — I have to bend more than halfway down to even open the lid and throw the diaper away. And being postpartum, this can SUCK sometimes 5) These can be a lil pricey if you don't catch a deal or sale Overall, this product is great! Is there is a few negatives that you have to work around and if you don’t want to work around them, then I would suggest a different pail. This is a great diaper pail, and it was recommended to us by a former nanny who has seen many different diaper pails. Pros: - The can seals nicely, and is very easy to open and close when putting in diapers. The seal also keeps smells in. - Changing the bag is very easy, and the bags that they sell for this pail are very thick and keep smells in when you tie them. - This diaper pail looks a little nicer than the diaper genie in my opinion. Cons: - I haven't found anything that I don't really like about this thing yet Conclusion: My wife's coworker spent time as a nanny for families when she was younger and recommended this diaper pail (she actually bought us one as a shower gift). We used it, and liked it so much we bought a second one for upstairs. It is very easy to open and close, and you can quickly toss in a diaper and close it up. As I said above, the Ubbi bags are very thick and instill confidence that whatever is in those bags, stays in the bags. It does also keep the smells in, you can tell when you open it briefly to put the diaper in, that it is keeping the smells in. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a diaper pail.

Here’s the thing- I wish I wouldn’t have waited to buy this product! I didn’t want a diaper genie because i didn’t want to have to constantly buy their bags. However, my daughter is 18 months + now and her diapers in a regular plastic trash can we’re really starting to stink up her room. I found this pail here on Amazon, and after a month of thinking about it I bought it and have loved it so far! FYI- I still run her poopy diapers outside, so I only put her pee diapers in this pail. However, her room doesn’t smell like a urine bomb went off every time i walk in there. I like that I can use whatever bag I want and that it’s made her room smell normal again. I do think it’s a bit over priced, but i was willing to pay the money to not have to deal with that smell anymore.
