Bought this as a gift, it's in great condition, and came with a lot of little extra things, I thought it only came with the thread at first.

Useful - an excellent purchase!

I've only had this a few days but have used most of the tools already. The needles in the kit are for hand sewing. You will need to buy sewing machine needles separately. Being completely new to the craft that is sewing I didn't want to invest into something I might not commit to for long, but already this kit has been incredibly useful.
