Works and Sturdy
For $42 I figured there was little to lose by getting this package of four J hooks... enough to carry TWO kayaks. Normally a single set would be more than that. From what I could tell with my research, all I was giving up was the foldable features that some of the more expensive J hooks have. They assembled easily (have a 1/2 inch sock ready) and mounted easily on the wide style factory roof rack of my 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner. I used the straps that came with the order (4 straps total... 2 per kayak) and they work well. I may switch to some "rachet" style straps but after driving around I didn't see any problems with the factory straps. The bolts set inside the rubber base (sunken) so you don't have to worry about the kayak hitting the bolt heads. Everything was heavy... these are not hollow tubes and cheap bolts. The box it arrived in was quite heavy and everything had to be assembled, which was easy enough.

Great price and product!!
These are great! I was hesitant at first because there weren't too many reviews and they were a cheap price, but I took a risk and bought them...wasn't even a risk at all! You do have to put them together, but it's pretty simple. We have used them a couple times now and they have held up and stayed on tight to the rack. The straps seem iffy, but they do work. I will probably be buying stronger straps in the future..but for the price I paid to get two kayak carriers, I am okay with that

Very durable, great price, hard to assemble
These J racks are super durable and easily handle my SUP's and single kayaks. The price is great for a 2 pair of racks with straps. The assembly was a real b***h however! I'm a DIY kind of guy and I still needed a couple of hours to assemble... including having to hammer the bolts into the assembled racks since the holes were just a hair off. Most everything else lined up but all the pieces were stiff/tough and required some elbow grease to put together. But all in all, this stiffness/hardness proves to be a plus when putting the racks to use. So I rate these 5 stars for durability and price.

Less expensive than used ones on Craigslist!
Not the fancy folding ones, but for the price I'll put them on and take them off as needed. Used them this weekend and they worked as expected. With a few hammer blows to flaten the lower part to better fit my oval shaped 2013 Tacoma factory roof rack rails, they fit and performed well. Despite not being a Prime item, they arrived very quickly.

Great quality. Very strong.
I did mark the "easy to assemble" stars as 5 - but it should read, easy to figure out. It's kinda difficult to assemble because the rubber "plate" is SO thick and not forgiving. Actually, you would WANT it to be this way and I'm glad it is. Once assembled it is a very strong, well built unit. Fits my Rhino Rack roof bars very well. No movement when clamped down. Overall - very very pleased with these "J" bars. Can't beat the price either......

Good sturdy racks
Good cheap rack. Took a little longer to go together than I'd like. The base is a soft rubberlike plastic that is a little difficult to start the ends through, but after you get the first one figured out it goes pretty smoothe. The straps are a little flimsy looking but held the kayaks in place just fine. All together would recommend, but I will probably get different straps just for peace of mind.

Highly recommend! Takes time to assemble but easy to install
This product works really well! You will need some time to put it together. Unfortunately it does in many pieces and it’s tough to fit the metal rods through the gummy square past that the kayak rests on. But i totally recommend it! I was quoted thousands for a rack by my dealership. I ended up installing the rails, cross bars and this kayak rack for $250 plus maybe 3 hours total. You can do this i promise!

Amazing deal
The hardest part about putting these together was getting the bolt through the rubber and lined up in the square hole at the same time. My thumbs hurt after doing all four in about an hour and a half. But they seem much more sturdy than I anticipated for the price. Clearly I haven’t put them on the car yet to use them but I am very please so far and can’t wait to install them (which will be done tomorrow). Here’s a few tips for assembly: put all 6 bolts in and through the rubber, lined up, before you tighten them down.

Cheap and good.
2015 outback. Very happy with what they are for the money. Assembly had me scratching my head with no instructions, but I found a video on YouTube and it was simple.

Racks
Ok they work great but they have to come with better instructions!!! We had to YouTube to see how to do it and other people said the instructions were horrible. All in all though it’s a great product!!!
